Artist Statement

My work is derived from a basic concept, a fundamental ideation that I bring to life while utilizing graphite tools, miniature models, printmaking techniques, and oil paints. From its conception, I build an idea by researching artists and analyzing perspective, color, line weight, and lighting. I am continuously seeking inspiration from the world around me and am primarily interested in working with oil paints and randomized sculptural material.
My subject matter ranges from world building, creature design, still life, and the dark fantastical, created with mediums in painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Often incorporating real-world issues, I enjoy bringing up taboo subjects such as the shady facets of society, environmental issues, and beauty standards. With world-building, I delve into possible issues that affect subjects of a fictional world.
The invented world I have been currently focusing on concerns the feasible and undeniable outcome of the environmental problems brought upon us by overpopulation. The world holds its own unique language, geography, history, culture, and is a byproduct of our existing earth. I bring these two worlds together through sculpture, painting, and writing. Employing a surrealistic lens, I probe into what will become of a world engulfed by overdevelopment.
